The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, aka the “new bankruptcy law”, became effective October 17, 2005. The law introduces several changes to the existing bankruptcy rules. One of the changes requires bankruptcy filers to complete a compulsary credit counseling course.
